March 16, 1992 Thank you for purchasing our first PCjr Utility Diskette. I'm hope the software on this diskette will increase your enjoyment when using your PCjr. PC Enterprises has now focussed on eliminating PCjr compatibility problems. It's my objective to achieve 100% software compatibility. As long as your PCjr meets the hardware requirements of a program (memory, disk drives, graphics adapter, etc.), the program should run. It's that simple! I need your help. Please let PCE know if you find a program that does not work correctly on your PCjr. Use the PROBLEM.TXT form, included on this diskette, to report incompatibilities. If you can provide adequate information for us to duplicate the problem I will to everything I can to have the problem corrected. We're already working on a second group of utilities (Utilities Diskette #2). Diskette #2 includes a few old, but mostly new utilities designed by PCE. Most are disk-based versions of fixes developed for our new Compatibility Cartridge. The utilities solve problems using cartridges with DOS 5.00, disk drive error problems, a problem that causes the PCjr beep each time a key is pressed, and a problem that prevents programs that need software interrupts from installing. Diskette #1 took hundreds of hours longer to complete than I first anticipated. Simple one-byte patches, such as the ID Byte fix for DOS 3.20, have taken more than a week to develop, and over 200 hours were spent revising jrConfig alone! I've placed this software in the public domain so all PCjr users can benefit. Your thanks and appreciation make it all worth while.
