PC Enterprises "Dedicated Exclusively to the IBM PCjr Since 1984" ____________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________ I N T R O D U C T I O N This diskette includes a collection of utilities which allow you to take the fullest advantage of your PCjr. The name of this file is READ_1ST.TXT. It provides a general introduction for all PC Enterprises user supported software diskettes. Also on this diskette you'll find a text file whose name begins with DIR (example: DIR85505.TXT). This file includes an "almost-alphabetical" listing of each program on the diskette, and a brief description of each. DIR85505.TXT is a listing for diskette #85505. If you find this diskette useful, and would like to purchase additional utilities and other programs selected by PC Enterprises specifically for PCjr users, refer to the file named "MORESOFT.TXT". If you would like to report a problem with any program on this diskette, refer to the file named "PROBLEM.TXT". You can also use PROBLEM.TXT to report any other software compatibility problems you'd like us to solve. _____________________________________________________________________ This diskette is not copy protected although it does contain copyrighted material. You are encouraged to copy and share these programs with other PCjr owners, however, do not modify any program or document file. Also, you must distribute all files in a particular group together (this means all files must be distributed with the appropriate DOC file). Other programs on this diskette may be copyrighted by other companies, or individuals. Some have been modified by PCE (with the permission of the respective author) for PCjr applications. _____________________________________________________________________ Things you should know before you proceed: One or more files on this diskette may be provided in a compressed format. Compressed files are easy to identify because their name always begins with an exclamation point (!). Before you can use a compressed file it must be expanded. To expand a compressed file copy the file onto a blank diskette. Next, type the name of the file then press ENTER. Files are self-extracting. Files that are not compressed are always accompanied by a instructions. The instructions are in text files that are easy to identify because they have the same name as the file, however they have a DOC extension. Files that end with TXT also provide useful information, however these files may or may not be associated with another file. An easy way to read any TXT or DOC file is to use the LIST program that is also provided on this diskette. The LIST program permits you to move through a text file with the Page-Up, Page-Down, and other cursor movement keys. Example: To read ANYNAME.TXT, enter the command: LIST ANYNAME.TXT Do not try to expand compressed files on the diskette provided by PCE as there will not be enough room. Always copy a compressed file to another diskette first, then type the name of the file, and it will be expanded. We regret the inconvenience caused by file compression, however it permits us to keep file groups together, and also lets us fit more programs on each diskette. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- If you started this program by typing GO at the DOS prompt, you are now using the LIST program to read this file. When finished reading this file, press ESC and a list of programs on this diskette will be displayed.
