TANDY CORPORATION ANNOUNCES THE TANDY 1000 SX COMPUTER FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- Tandy Corporation today announced the Tandy (r) 1000 SX computer, a PC-compatible business computer priced at $1,199, that runs 50 percent faster than the PC. The Intel 8088 microprocessor-based system runs most MS-DOS software at 7.16 MHz, and is software switchable to 4.77 MHz. The Tandy 1000 SX computer features two disk drives, more memory, and more expansion slots than the original Tandy 1000 computer. "Business and serious home users tell us they want a dependable, low-cost computer that runs the software they already own but at a higher speed. Every Tandy 1000 SX computer comes with DeskMate (r) II software, an updated version of Tandy's popular six-in-one applications, electronic filing, calendar/alarm, telecommunications, and electronic mail functions.
