TANDY CORPORATION INTRODUCES NEW 40 MB
VERSION OF TANDY 3000 HD PERSONAL COMPUTER


FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- Tandy Corporation today announced a new version of the
Tandy (r) 3000 personal computer featuring a 40-megabyte high performance hard
disk drive. This new computer system is Tandy's most powerful personal computer
offering to date.

"Priced at $4,299, this version continues to bring the business customer the
superior quality and price/performance expected from Tandy. The Tandy 3000, 40
MB HD computer runs the MS-DOS (r) version 3.2 operating system and provides
PC/AT compatibility. It offers ten megabytes more storage, 128K more RAM, and
greater memory expansion than the PC/AT," said John V, Roach, Tandy's chairman,
CEO and president. "Those businesses with large spreadsheets and databases will
find the extra storage and 28-millisecond average access time valuable
features."

The standard configuration for the Tandy 3000, 40 MB HD computer includes a 1.2
megabyte floppy disk drive and 640K RAM. Memory expansion to 12 megabytes will
soon be possible with the release of XENIX (r) System V operating system.

The Tandy 3000 computer utilizes the Intel (r) 80286 microprocessor operating
at 8 megahertz. Standard features include a real-time clock with battery
backup, a serial/parallel adapter, and provision for an optional plug-in math
co-processor.

The Tandy 3000, 40 MB HD computer is available at Radio Shack (r) stores, Radio
Shack Computer Centers, Plus Computer Centers and participating Radio Shack
