MS OS/2 is a single-user, multi-tasking operating system which offers the customer several enhancements over MS-DOS 3.XX while still maintaining compatibility with most existing programs. Using the 80286 protected mode on either an 80286 or 80386 computer, MS OS/2 breaks the 640 kilobyte (Kb) memory barrier and allows 16 megabytes (Mb) of addressable memory. This ability allows the user to run much larger application programs that are currently limited by 640 Kb of memory.
