1400 HD (250-3505) Setting up your Computer Faxback Doc. # 1052 This section provides information to help you set up the Tandy 1400 HD. Your computer includes built-in support for and RGB color monitor as well as for a parallel printer and an RS-232C device. WARNING: Completely assemble the system and optional devices before using them. Using a partially dismantled system can cause accidents or electrical shock. Follow these steps to set up your computer: 1. Remove the computer from the box. Save the packing materials in case you transport your system in the future. 2. Set the system on a flat surface. 3. Open the rear connector panel by pulling up on its cover. Note: If you are not connecting any peripheral device, you can connect the AC adapter's plug through the hole in the rear cover, without opening the cover. 4. Plug one end of the AC adapter into the AC ADAPTER jack on the back of the system. 5. Plug the other end of the AC adapter into a standard AC outlet (60 Hz, 120 V +/- 10 %). Note: The internal rechargeable battery must be charged before you can operate the system using battery. Initially, charge the system for 15 hours. Then, disconnect the adapter from the AC outlet and the computer. 6. Push the two latches on the sides of the system at the same time, and raise the display screen. CAUTION: Before you close the computer, always remove the diskette(s) from the drive(s). (jej-05/10/94)
