TANDY 1000 RLX (250-1452/53) Music and Sound Faxback Doc. # 1328 Upgrading Other Music and Sound files to the 1000 RLX Music and Sound. If you have Sound Files that were recorded on an older computer, they were recorded at a slightly slower rate than is used on your new computer. Because of enhancements in the sound chip on your new machine, your old sound files can be corrected so that they can be played correctly on your machine. This correction is implemented by creating a new file format. When you try to play a sound file with an old format, you will see the following dialog box: What Machine Recorded This Sound? 1000TL 1000SL 1000TL/2, TL/3, SL/2, RL, or 2500XL Other (No adjustment) Note: Choose Other (No adjustment) when you want to play a sound file that does not require a rate adjustment, for example a sound file you downloaded from a bulletin board. Choose one of the buttons and then select OK. The file is modified, and when you exit it, you are asked to save the changes. Save the file so that it will be in the new format the next time you use it. If you are not sure which machine was used to record the sound file, choose a button and then play the file. If it sounds correct, save the file. If not, reload the old sound file and choose another machine in the dialog box. Your new Music program contains instrument files recorded at the correct rate. If, however you have old instrument files that you want to use, follow the conversion process described above to convert these old instrument files. Desktop Sound: The Setup accessory's desktop sound feature is located on DeskMate Disk 1. If you are using diskettes to run DeskMate and use any diskette other than DeskMate Disk 1 to start up your computer, and have the desktop sound feature activated the sound will play the first time you access the desktop after you have inserted DeskMate Disk 1. Remember, the desktop sound will play when you start running DeskMate, only if DeskMate Disk 1 is in the drive.
