4016 SX (250-4901) Math Coprocessor Faxback Doc. # 1569 The math coprocessor socket is located on the main logic board. Refer to Opening the Computer for instructions on how to reach the main logic board. CAUTION: Incorrect installation of the Intel 80387SX math coprocessor can damage the coprocessor and/or the main logic board. Read the instructions in this section completely before attempting to install your math coprocessor. You can also refer to the installation instructions included with the coprocessor. Radio Shack Service Center technicians will install optional devices if you choose not to do so yourself. CAUTION: Before handling electrical components, be sure to touch a grounded metal object to release any static electric charge. 1. Locate and set the jumper for the math coprocessor installation. Refer to Main Logic Board Layout to locate the jumper. For a list of jumper settings, refer to Configuration Settings. 2. Orient the math coprocessor so that the dot on the corner of the coprocessor aligns with the notched corner (labeled 1) of the socket. CAUTION: Be sure that the math coprocessor is properly oriented before you press it into its socket. Removal of this coprocessor requires a special IC extraction tool. 3. Taking care not to bend or touch the metal pins, press the coprocessor into the socket.
