Follow these steps to set up your computer for the first time:

1. Connect a monitor to the video adapter.
2. Connect the keyboard to the keyboard connector.
3. Connect all peripheral power and data cables as directed.

You can also connect an optional serial mouse and/or parallel printer. 

4. Plug the power cord into a grounded AC outlet. Do not use an outlet that 
   powers heavy machinery, copiers, office machines, and so on. If you must 
   use an extension, use a grounded, multi-outlet strip.

WARNING: Voltage requirements vary in different countries. Be sure to read the
voltage label and set your system accordingly. If you switch the power 
supply's voltage the original setting, be sure that you use the appropriate
power cord.

For Units Set at 115V: Use a UL-listed cord set consisting of a minimum 
18AWG, type SVT or SJT three-conductor cord a maximum of 15 feet in length 
and a parallel blade, grounding-type attachment plug rated 15 A, 125V.

For Units Set at 230V (Domestic Use): Use a UL-listed cord set consisting of a 
minimum 18AWG, type SVT or SJT three-conductor cord a maximum of 15 feet in 
length and a tandem blade, grounding-type attachment plug rated 15 A, 250V.

For Units Set at 230V (Outside U.S.): Use a cord set consisting of a minimum 
18AWG cord and grounding-type attachment plug rated 15 A, 250V. The cord set 
should have the appropriate safety approvals for the country in which the 
equipment will be installed and should be marked HAR.

Power On/Power Off:

To turn on your computer, press the power switch on the right side of the 
computer's front panel. It must click into the "on" position.

To turn off the system, press the power switch. It must click into the "off" 
position. If you wish to lock the computer, turn the keylock to the locked 
position.

The Front Panel:

The front panel of the computer has two lights, a RESET button, a keylock, and 
diskette eject button.

*Power indicator (on the power switch)--Turns on whenever the system's power
 is on. Never move the unit when this light is on.
*Diskette drive activity light--Turns on whenever the diskette drive is  
 reading from or writing to a diskette. Never remove a diskette when this  
 light is on.
*RESET button--Performs a master reset; functions almost as if you turned off  
 the computer and then turned it on again.
*Keylock--Locks the computer's cover in place to prevent unauthorized removal
 of expansion adapters.
*Diskette eject button--Ejects the diskette from the drive.

CAUTION: Take a moment to record your keylock key number on the worksheet
provided in this manual. The number is inscribed on the key. If you ever lose
the key, you will need the number to obtain a duplicate.

Diskette Insertion:

To insert a diskette gently slide it (label side up and metal plate first) 
into the drive until the diskette snaps into place.

To remove a diskette from the drive, press the diskette eject button. Be 
careful not to accidentally press the power switch. When the diskette is 
partially ejected, pull it out.

CAUTION: A drive's activity light comes on when the computer is accessing that 
drive. Removing the diskette from the drive while this light is on can destroy 
the data on the diskette.
