2820 HD (250-3553) External Floppy Drive Faxback Doc. # 1826 You can connect an external 5 ¬-inch diskette drive such as the 25-1087 to your computer's parallel port. To install this 1.2MB diskette drive, you simply connect the drive directly to the parallel port of the computer, plug in the AC adapter, and run the drive's EXTSETUP program. Follow these steps to install the drive: 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Pull down the port compartment's hinged cover on the back of the computer. 3. If a printer is connected to the port, disconnect it and connect it to the PRINTER port in the back of the 1.2MB drive 4. Connect the data cable from the 1.2MB drive to the printer port on the computer. CAUTION: Use only the cable supplied with the drive. 5. Attach the AC adapter to the POWER connector on the drive. Then plug the adapter into a 120-volt wall outlet. 6. Turn on the drive and the computer. 7. After booting to an MS-DOS prompt, insert the Installation and Device Drivers Diskette into drive A:. Change to drive A: by typing: A: and press Run EXTSETUP by typing: extsetup and press Answer the displayed questions about your computer. When finished, reboot the computer to load the external floppy device driver. Read the 25-1087 user's guide for further information about loading the device driver, and using the utilities for the drive. If you are connecting a different external floppy other than the 25-1087, you might need to change the computer's parallel port option using the computer's Setup282 utility.
