Monochrome Graphics (250-3049A) Settings Faxback Doc. # 2121 Parallel Adapter This adapter is used when installing a VM-5 to a CPU. The 250-3049A has three staking pins and they are described as parallel port LPT1 enable or disable. When installing this board in a 3000, 3000HD or 4000, there will probably still be a 250-4034 Serial/Parallel Adapter board. The parallel port on the 250-4034 will probably be configured as LPT1. The new 250-3049A LPT1 address is 03BCh and 250-4034 LPT1 is using the old LPT1 address of 0378h. There is no need to change the 250-4034 board. The computer will not look at the LPT assignments, simply addresses. The computer will see the 250-3049A as LPT1 and even though the 250-4034 looks as if it is using LPT1, the address it is using will cause the computer to see it as LPT2. To summarize, when using a combination of the 250-3049A and the 250-4034, this is how the computer see's it: Board: Configured As: Address: CPU See's It As: 25-3049A LPT1 03BCh LPT1 25-4034 LPT1 0378h LPT2 (smm/jej-05/11/94)
