Monochrome Graphics (250-3049A) Installation Faxback Doc. # 2122 Parallel Adapter Because static electricity can destroy integrated circuits, be sure to discharge any accumulated static electricity by touching a grounded metal object before you touch the adapter or any of the computer's other circuit boards. 1. Turn off the computer's power and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet and the back of the computer. If the computer is left on during the installation process, you increase the risk of damage to the central processing unit, as well as your adapter. 2. Turn off the power to all peripheral equipment. 3. Note the locations of all peripheral equipment cables, and disconnect the cables from the system unit. 4. Remove the cover mounting screws from the back panel of the computer. 5. Remove the cover by sliding it toward the front of the computer. 6. Select any empty expansion slot. Remove the screw that secures the slot cover to the back of the system unit. Tilt the metal slot cover away from the slot and lift it out. 7. Slide the adapter's metal mounting bracket into the slot cover opening. Push the adapter's edge connector firmly into the expansion slot connector on the motherboard. Be sure the adapter is fully seated. 8. Using the screw taken out when ;you removed the slot cover, secure the adapter's mounting bracket to the back panel of the computer. Your are finished installing the adapter. 9. Replace the computer's cover, and secure it with the screws taken out when you removed the cover. 10. Reconnect all peripheral equipment.
