SVGA Windows Accelerator Adapter (250-4055) Settings Faxback Doc. # 2183 Jumper W2 is a zero wait state jumper. It enables the adapter to generate wait state memory write cycles, thus improving performance. Jumper settings are listed in the following table: Jumper Setting Explanation W2 Jumpered* Generate zero wait state for high performance. Not Jumpered Do not generate zero wait state * Indicates factory setting. If your computer does not support zero wait state operation, you will need to change the jumper setting. Leave the Zero Wait State Jumper installed; if you experience screen data loss, park the jumper on one pin of W2 to disable zero wait state operation. Dip Switch Settings: Note: Some switches are sensed only when you turn on the computer, so always turn off the computer before changing switch settings. Set Switches 1 and 2 for the monitor frequency for the 800 x 600 modes. Set Switches 3 and 4 to set the monitor frequency for the 1024 x 768 modes. Set Switch 5 to select the monitor frequency (horizontal frequency rate) for Standard VGA Modes 0 through 13. The following switch setting tables list the VGA modes available and the monitor frequencies required for each setting. Note: Change the switches only if you have a monitor and software that support a different frequency than the one set by default. Refer to your monitor documentation for information. Memory Location Information: The SVGA Windows Accelerator Adapter uses memory locations A0000-C7FFF for display memory and the extended video BIOS. These are the same locations used by a standard VGA adapter. If an EMS (Expanded Memory Specification) adapter or other device currently uses these memory locations, reconfigure the device to use other memory locations. For an EMS adapter, you can usually designate the exclusions when starting the EMS driver. Consult your device documentation to determine the memory locations used.
