AT Smartdrive Adapter (250-1095) Settings Faxback Doc. # 2189 Note: Refer to Faxback Doc. # 2192 for Board Layout. Setting the Smartdrive Interface Board Jumpers: Install the SmartDrive assembly in your computer the first time with the jumpers set in the default positions. The BIOS defaults to C800H, a commonly used BIOS address. If you experience computer system problems, you may need to try another address by setting the interface board jumpers. BIOS addresses are listed below. Note: The 1000 TL/2 and 1000 TL/3 will not work with C800H or CA00H BIOS addresses. You must set the jumpers for CC00H or CE00H to use the interface board with a 1000 TL/2 or 1000 TL/3 computer. Three jumpers are supplied on the interface board (on one pin only, so they do not make any connections). If a pin is listed as "on", the plastic jumper should be placed over the two pins which correspond to that location. If a pin is "off," do not place a jumper over those pins. To Select This: BIOS ADDRESS E1 E2 C800H (default) off off CA00H on off CC00H off on CE00H on on E3 through E7 have been set at the factory. Do not place jumpers on those pins. If you do, you may damage the hard drive data. Notes: * The use of an XT/AT configurable Smartdrive will require configuration as an AT Smartdrive. Although the 25-1095 adapter is an 8-bit controller it, is still an AT compatible IDE interface. XT style IDE drives like the 250-1046 and 250-1047 will not operate on the 250-1095 adapter. * This adapter has it's own BIOS, machines requiring a hard drive type should choose NONE or NOT INSTALLED in the computer's Setup Utility. * DO NOT use this adapter with the 52 Meg drive. * This adapter will not operate under Xenix or Unix. Xenix uses the computer's hard drive type table for initialization. Since the 250-1095 adapter has its own BIOS, Xenix will never see the drive. * Although the owner's manual states that this device can be used in a Tandy 3000, the adapter will not physically fit in an expansion slot. The 3000's alternating 16-bit and 8-bit slots interfere with the adapters hard drive bracket. (smm/jej-05/11/94)
