The parallel port allows either one-way or two-way data transfer. In one-way transfer, the computer uses the port only to send data to the parallel device. In two-way (bidirectional) transfer, the computer uses the port to send output to the parallel device and to receive input from the device. After you connect the parallel device, run the setup utility. 1. Connect the monitor. You can connect any monochrome or color, fixed- or multiple-frequency, interlaced or non-interlaced VGA analog monitor. However, some video modes require specific monitor frequencies. 2. Connect the keyboard. Place the keyboard at least 2 inches from the front of the computer. CAUTION: The computer can overheat is the ventilation slots on the front of the computer are blocked. 3.
