You can connect the unit to a serial printer or to a parallel printer
with a serial-to-parallel adapter. You need to set up the printer before
printing.

To connect to a serial printer:

1. Make sure the power is switched off on both devices.
2. Uncover the RS-232C port and connect the printer to the unit using a
   serial cable with a null modem adapter.
3. Turn on the power of the printer.
4. Turn on the power of the unit.
5. Select or change a printer.

To select or change a printer:

1. Tap the Launcher fixed icon, choose Utilities, and then choose
   Preferences.
2. On the Preferences screen, tap Print.
3. To select a printer to use, tap Change Printer.
   This screen tells you the currently selected printer.

4. In the list of printers, tap the name of the printer you want to use.
   Use the up or down scroll arrows to see more printer names.
5. Select the printer port where you'll connect the printer.
   Most serial printers plug into COM1.
6. Tap OK.

   You might need to set up the serial port options to match your printer.

To change serial options:
1. Tap the Launcher icon, choose Utilities, and then choose Preferences.
2. On the Preferences screen, tap Printer.
3. To change serial port options, Tap Serial Options.
   Serial options must be selected before baud rate pop-up menu appears.
4. Tap the Baud Rate pop-up menu and select the transmission speed you
   want to use.

   The Baud rate is maximum speed that information can be transmitted
   between the unit and the printer. Set the baud rate according to your
   printer manual.

5. Tap the Parity pop-up menu and select the parity that matches the
   printer.
   Parity is a method that checks for errors during transmission.
 
6. Tap the Word Length pop-up menu and select the word length that matches
   the printer.

   The Word-Length (may be called Data Bits) specifies the number of bits
   that make up a character.

7. Tap the Stop Bits pop-up menu and select the stop bits used by the
   printer.
   The stop bits indicate the end of a transmitted character.

8. Tap the Handshake pop-up menu and select the handshake method to use.
   Handshake refers to a method of monitoring the flow of information
   between the unit and printer. The handshake method of both the unit and
   printer must match.

   Select Software (XON/XOFF) to allow the unit to monitor the flow of
   information from the printer. This starts and stops the flow as needed.

   Select None if the printer does not use a handshake method. If you 
   select None, you risk losing portions of incoming information.

   Select Hardware if the printer uses one of these methods: DTE, RTS, CTS,
   DCD, DSR. Then, select the method used for Stop Remote and Stop Local.

9. Tap OK to go back to the Change Printer screen.
