ZPDA (250-3100) Resetting the Unit Faxback Doc. # 2649 Occasionally, certain situations may occur where you need to reset the unit: a "soft" reset and a "hard" reset. You use the soft reset if the unit has run out of memory or encountered a system error. Using the soft reset should not damage any of your information. When the unit runs out of memory, you might see a message indicating that you must reset the unit to avoid data loss. When a low memory warning appears, you should immediately purge or delete information you no longer need to avoid losing information when the memory fills up. You use the hard reset when the unit encounters a data error or a problem with the internal circuitry. To perform a soft reset: 1. Open the battery compartment cover of the unit. 2. Use a thin, pointed object (such as a paper clip) to press the Reset button located inside the battery compartment. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. To perform a hard reset: IMPORTANT: Performing a hard reset clears all the information you've entered from the unit's memory. Make sure you have a backup of your documents before proceeding!! 1. Open the battery compartment cover of the unit. 2. Use a thin, pointed object to press and hold down the Reset button located inside the battery compartment. 3. While holding down the A and B buttons, press the Reset button located inside the battery compartment using a thin, pointed object. 4. After following the steps as instructed on the display, replace the battery compartment cover. (clh-09/27/93)
