The AC adapter converts AC power from a wall outlet to the DC power
required by the computer.

The adapter's primary function is to provide power to the computer.
When the adapter is connected to the computer it provides power to it as
long as it is plugged into an electrical wall outlet.

The adapter has a built-in indicator.  This green light turns on when you
plug the adapter into a power source.  If this light does not come on, the
adapter may not be properly connected, or the light or the adapter may not
be functioning.
