If the setup information and the system date and time are lost each time you turn off the computer, it is time to replace the battery. NOTE: If you prefer, your computer dealer can arrange to have the battery installed for you. WARNING: Improper handling of this lithium battery can be hazardous. Never recharge, disassemble, or heat the battery above 100 Degrees C (212 Degrees F). Never solder directly to the battery or expose the contents of the battery to water. Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions. Replace the battery with a battery of the same type. To replace the battery: 1. Turn off the computer, and disconnect all cables. 2. Discharge any accumulated static electricity from your body by touching a grounded metal object. Then, open the computer. 3. Remove expansion adapters that block access to the battery. 4. Gently lift the battery clip and remove the old battery from the socket on the main logic board. 5. Insert the new battery, positive (+) side up. 6. Close the computer. 7. Reconnect all cables. 8. Run the setup utility to enter the setup information. (smc-12/08/93)
