Your system ships with 512 KB of video RAM, and you can upgrade it to 1 MB or 2 MB by installing video RAM chips. To upgrade video memory, you need 256Kx16-KB, 70-ns DRAM chips, available from your Radio Shack store or participating dealer under part number AX25-9999: To upgrade 512 KB to 1 MB, you need one chip. To upgrade 1 MB to 2 MB, you need two chips. To upgrade 512 KB to 2 MB, you need three chips. Do the following: 1. Turn the computer off, unplug the power cord, disconnect all peripheral devices, remove the system-unit cover, and move the internal drive bay, and remove the power supply. 2. Locate the DRAM sockets on the system board. 3. If any add-in boards interfere with your access to the DRAM sockets, remove the add-in boards. 4. Install each chip: * If you are installing one DRAM chip, install it in socket U805. * If you are installing two chips, install them in sockets U806 and U807. * If you are installing three chips, install them in U805, U806 and U807. Warning: Orient the chip so that the notched end of the chip aligns to the notched end of the socket. 5. Examine your installation to ensure that the new chips are fully seated. 6. If you removed any add-in boards to reach the DRAM sockets, replace the add-in boards. 7. Replace the internal drive bay and system-unit cover. Reconnect peripheral devices and plug i the power cord.
