2100 (250-1624) DOS 6.2 Stepup Faxback Doc. # 2837 When installing DOS the DOS 6.2 Stepup you will encounter the following message: "BOOT SECTOR WRITE!!! POSSIBLE VIRUS: CONTINUE (Y/N)" This message is displayed because the 2100 has Boot Sector virus protection enabled in the CMOS RAM. When DOS 6.0 or DOS 6.2 install programs attempt to write the system files, IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS, to the boot sector of the hard disk the above message is displayed. There are two solutions to keep this error from occurring. 1. When the message appears press the Y key to continue. The setup will complete and function correctly. 2. In the Advanced CMOS Setup of the computer, disable the BootSector Virus Protection. This will stop the error from reappearing. NOTE: Refer to FaxBack document #2505 for instructions on the CMOS Setup. 3. Once DOS 6.0 or 6.2 is installed, you can go back to the Advanced CMOS Setup and enable BootSector Virus Protection.
