SENSATION! (250-1651) Adding a Second Hard Drive Faxback Doc. # 2838 A second hard drive can be added in the 5.25" drive bay under the CD-ROM. It is recommended that both the sound board and the FAX/modem card be removed completely. Remove all cables connected to these boards, as they are not long enough to give sufficient work space. The Sensation II's IDE cable has a connection for 1 hard drive only. It is necessary to replace it with part # WA-0527. This is an IDE cable with connectors for 2 hard drives. Note: Be observant of pin 1 when making all cable connections. When ready to reassemble, the cables to the sound board and FAX/modem can be reconnected by following the cable diagram on page 16 of the computer manual. Once the computer is reassembled, turn on the power and press F2 to run SETUP. Change the Hard Drive D: option from None to Auto, or to the proper selection for the second hard drive. Then press F2 to save and reboot. Note: When computer reboots, press F5 when the prompt "Starting MS-DOS" comes up. This will bypass the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT, thus not starting Windows. Prepare the second hard drive by running FDISK and FORMAT. (For more help on these commands, refer to the MS-DOS manual included with the computer.) The CD-ROM is now drive E. In order for certain parts of the software to run, it is necessary to edit 4 files in the WINDOWS directory and 1 file in the WINMATE directory.
