SENSATION! (250-1650) Addendum Faxback Doc. # 2841 Changes/Additions to Winmate: Note: The following changes/additions to the WinMate applications: Banners: If the banner you are printing is over nine pages, then the maximum number of pages you can print must be determined for the printer you're using. It is a good idea to figure the number of pixels per page that you are printing. To determine the maximum number of pages you can print on your printer: 1. Multiply the number of pixels per inch of the print resolution (found in the Print Quality: field of the Print dialog box) by the number of horizontal inches of paper (11" if you are printing in landscape format on an 8 1/2 by 11" sheet of paper). 2. Divide the total from Step 1 into 32,000. (For example, 300 dpi and 11" equals 3300. Dividing that into 32,000 gives you 9 pages for the length of your banner. The result is the maximum number of pages you can print. You can run this software to use your Sensation computer as a fax machine. The Phoenix MicroFAX program can be accessed through WinMate's In Touch category. The three Phoenix MicroFAX icons are described below: Phoenix MicroFAX--Choose this icon to view, edit, and send your faxes. Phoenix Comserver--Loads automatically when you choose to send a fax so that the information is converted to the fax file format and the number you are calling is dialed. Phoenix Queue--Choose this icon to view a list of the faxes waiting to be sent. Phone Book Reader: If you are having trouble dialing out in the Phone Book Reader application, be sure the Windows Terminal application or other communications software is closed. Phone Center: * When you select the Announce command on the Options Menu, you need to be sure to record an announcement. If you do not record a message, the Sound Recorder records an empty sound, and the currently recorded announcement is overwritten when you exit the Sound Recorder. * When you are using the Sound Recorder and you minimize it (instead of closing it), the Phone Center application will not respond to any mouse or keyboard operations. To regain use of Phone Center, reopen the Sound Recorder and close it. Note: To reopen the Sound Recorder, click on the Pause icon and choose the Sound Recorder. Profiler: In the Add Information Area dialog box, you must use the mouse to click on the Add Area or Done button. Prosonus Music Files: These music and sound effects files are located on the Data Disc in Drive D. There are 50 sound effects files located in the d:\soundefx directory. There are 20 musical tunes located in the d:\tunes directory. These tunes include wave and midi files in lengths of 5, 15, 30, and 60 seconds. Travel Planner: To print addresses for each destination, switch to the destination you want to print. Then use the Trip Menu's Print command to print the address information for the current destination. Repeat these steps for each destination you want to print addresses for. Tutorials: You must use the mouse to move around the screen when running the WinMate Tutorials. General Information: Please note the following general information. Change the Default Desktop: WinMate's desktop automatically appears when you start your computer. If you prefer to go directly into Windows Program Manager, follow these steps: 1. Double Click on the desktop's Inside category, and then double click on the Notepad icon. 2. Use the Notepad File Menu's Open command to open the system.ini file in c:\windows. 3. Change the line shell=desktop.exe to: shell=progman.exe 4. Save and exit the system.ini file. When you restart your computer, Windows Program Manager will automatically appear. Copy a Works Template: You should not make a copy of any of the Works templates currently stored in c:\winmate\template. However, you might occasionally want a new copy of a specific template (for example, to set up a budget for each month of the year). To make additional copies of a template: 1. Rename the appropriate template currently stored in your c:\winmate\template directory. 2. Insert the Data Disc CD into the CD player. 3. Choose the Desktop's Inside category. 4. Double click on System Tools. 5. Double click on the File Manager icon. 6. In File Manager, select Drive D and go to the following directory: d:\original\winmate\template 7. Find the template file you want to copy and copy it to: c:\winmate\template 8. Select Drive C and highlight the file you just copied. 9. Use the File Menu's Properties command to turn off the Read Only attribute. You can now use this new template file. Copy an Original File: If you ever need to restore a file, use the Data Disc CD and locate the appropriate file in the \original directory. You'll want to copy the file to the same directory on your C: drive. For example, if you want to copy the annivsy1.ban file, you would find it on the Data Disc CD in the \original\winmate\pictures\banners directory. You would then copy the file to c:\winmate\pictures\banners. Use the steps described in the "Copy a Works Template" topic in this section of the addendum to copy the file.
