52 MB SmartDrive (250-4124) Addendum Faxback Doc. # 3094 After you install the 52MB SmartDrive in your computer, you must run the computer Setup utility to specify the drive type. The drive type information is listed in the following sections of the installation guide: Page 5, "Preparing the SmartDrive" in the "Before You Begin" section. Page 22, "Initialization Instructions" in the "Completing the Installation" section. Select Any (Non-Standard type) or Other as the drive type. After you select Non-Standard, enter the following information: Cylinders 751 Heads 8 Landing Zone 750 Sectors 17 Entering the above information gives the drive a formatted capacity of 50MB or 51,988,480 bytes (1MB=1,048,576 bytes) as formatted under MS-DOS 3.3. If the Setup utility for your computer does not support the (Non-Standard type) or Other option, select Type 12 as directed in the installation guide. This selection gives the drive a formatted capacity of 49MB or51,904,512 bytes (1MB=1,048,576 bytes) as formatted under MS-DOS 3.3. Select "Y: for SmartDrive if the Setup utility for your computer has a SmartDrive option. NOTICE FOR NOVELL NETWARE USERS ONLY: You must select drive type 12. Novell does not support the Any (Non-Standard type) or Other drive type at this time. Jumper Pins: There are three, not two, pairs of jumper pins at the rear of the drive. Refer to the "Before You Begin" section in the drive installation guide for an illustration of these pins. (css 07/29/93)
