Docking Station (250-3583) Connecting Faxback Doc. # 3106 Use with the Tandy 3830 SL and 3830 SL/C. Follow these steps to connect the computer to the docking station: 1. Close the computer's display panel. Open the computer's back cover and fold it under the computer to lock it into place. 2. Be sure the docking station is turned off. Then plug the AC power cord into the AC power jack on the back of the docking station. Plug the other end into a 110-volt AC outlet. CAUTION: Use only the AC power cord supplied with the docking station. Using another cord might damage the docking station and void your warranty. 3. Push the docking station's lever back as far as it goes. 4. Place the computer on the docking station's shelf so the guide pins on the docking station align with the holes in the base of the computer. 5. Pull the center of the docking station's lever toward the computer. Be sure that the computer's port aligns with the docking station. You need to pull the lever all the way forward to make full contact with the com- puter. 6. Turn on the docking station. The orange indicator on the docking station lights. 7. Turn on the computer. The green indicator on the docking station lights. Note: When you use an external device that has a power switch, turn on your computer equipment in the following order: a. First, the external device(s). b. Second, the docking station. c. Then, the computer. CAUTION: Never connect the computer's AC adapter when connecting to the docking station. Doing so can overcharge the computer's battery. If you accidentally connect both, turn off the docking station, disconnect the computer's AC adapter, and turn on the docking station again. Disconnecting the Computer: Follow these steps to disconnect the computer from the docking station. 1. Turn off the computer and close the display panel. Turn off the docking station and unplug the AC power cord. 2. Push both sides of the docking station lever away from the computer to disconnect the docking station's connector from the computer. CAUTION: Pushing only one side of the lever can damage both the port and the connector. 3. Lift the computer to remove it from the docking station.
