Universal Keyboard (250-1030) Install Faxback Doc. # 3142 Adapter The Universal Keyboard Adapter lets you connect an IBM-compatible keyboard to a Tandy 1000 or 1000 SX so you can run programs designed for IBM keyboards, using a 'standard IBM' keys. Supported keyboards include: Tandy 1200 Keystrokes KP 5150 Keystrokes KP 5151 (with XT ROM) IBM PC or PC/XT Tandy Enhanced (XT Mode) IBM Enhanced (XT Mode) Note: Tandy 1000/1000 SX specific software programs, such as Tandy 1000 BASIC, Deskmate for 1000, and Scripsit for the 1000 are specifically de- signed for use with the Tandy 1000 keyboard and will not function correctly with this adapter. Note: KEYCNVRT.SYS is not required when using this adapter. The Keyboard Driver: Before attaching the new keyboard to your computer, you must first add a keyboard driver to the config.sys file on your MS-DOS system disk. Refer to your MS-DOS manual on how to do this. The line to be added is as follows: device=xtkbdrvr.sys You will need to reboot the computer after you have added this line.
