14,400 Modem & Fax (250-3036) Result Codes Faxback Doc. # 3252 After you enter the command (enter), the modem executes the command line and returns a result code. The modem can express the result code as a word or a number. Also, you can select which result codes the modem uses, and even turn result codes on and off. The V, X, and Q commands control these options, and are discussed later in this chapter. Below are the ten result codes and their meanings. 0 OK The OK code is returned by the modem to acknowledge execution of a command line. 1 CONNECT The modem sends this result code when line speed is 300 bps. 2 RING The modem sends this result code when incoming ringing is detected on the line. 3 NO CARRIER Carrier not detected within time limit, or carrier lost. 4 ERROR The modem could not process the command 5 CONNECT 1200 The modem detected a carrier at 1200 bps. 6 NO DIALTONE The modem could not detect a dial tone when dialing. 7 BUSY Modem detected a busy signal. 8 NO ANSWER Modem never detected silence (@ command only). 9 CONNECT 600 The modem sends this result code when line speed is 600 bps. 10 CONNECT 2400 The modem detected a carrier at 2400 bps. 11 CONNECT 4800 Connection established at 4800 bps. 12 CONNECT 9600 Connection established at 9600 bps. 13 CONNECT 7200 This modem sends this result code when line speed is 7200 bps. 15 CONNECT 14400 Connection established at 14400 bps. 16 CONNECT 19200 Connection established at 19200 bps. 17 CONNECT 38400 Connection established at 38400 bps. 18 CONNECT 57600 Connection established at 57600 bps. 22 CONNECT The modem sends this result code upon 1200TX/75RX establishing a V23 originate. 23 CONNECT The modem sends this result code upon estab- 1200TX/75RX lishing a V.23 answer. 24 DELAYED The modem returns code when a call fails to connect and is considered "delayed". 32 BLACKLISTED The modem returns this result code when a f\call fails to connect and is considered "blacklisted." 40 CARRIER 300 Carrier detected at 300 bps. 44 CARRIER 1200/75 The modem sends this result code when V.23 backward channel carrier is detected. 45 CARRIER 75/1200 The modem sends this result code when the V.23 forward channel carrier is detected. 46 CARRIER 1200 Carrier detected at 1200 bps. 47 CARRIER 2400 Carrier detected at 2400 bps. 48 CARRIER 4800 This modem sends this result code when either the high or low channel carrier in V.22 bis modem has been detected. 49 CARRIER 7200 Carrier detected at 7200 bps. 50 CARRIER 9600 Carrier detected at 9600 bps. 51 CARRIER 12000 Carrier detected at 12000 bps. 52 CARRIER 14400 Carrier detected at 14400 bps. 66 COMPRESSION MNP Class 5 is active CLASS 5. 67 COMPRESSION V.42bis is active V.42bis. 69 COMPRESSION No Data Compression NONE. 70 PROTOCOL:NONE No Error Correction. 77 PROTOCOL:LAPM V.42 LAP-M Error Correction. 80 PROTOCOL:ALT MNP Class 4 Error Correction. TRANSMISSION SPEED When you type AT to get the modem's attention, the modem sets itself to the speed you have set using the communications program. When you connect to another computer either by dialing or auto-answer, the modem connects at the other computer's highest speed (but not greater than the AT speed) and sends you a CONNECT result code. Then the modem changes its operation to the other computer's speed (if different from the AT speed). If the connect speed differs from the speed you set in the communications program, you do not need to change your communications program's speed. The characters display on the screen at the slower rate, automatically. For example, if you set the communication software to operate at 2400 bps, type AT DT 555-3434 enter, and the system you dial answers at 1200 bps, you see the message CONNECT 1200. Communications then proceed as normal, but at the slower speed. The connect result codes are: CONNECT (110 or 300 connection) CONNECT 0600 (600 bps connection) CONNECT 1200 (1200 bps connection) CONNECT 2400 (2400 bps connection) CONNECT 4800 (4800 bps connection) CONNECT 7200 (7200 bps connection) CONNECT 9600 (9600 bps connection) CONNECT 12000 (12000 bps connection) CONNECT 14400 (14400 bps connection) CONNECT 19200 (19200 bps connection) CONNECT 38400 (38400 bps connection) CONNECT 57600 (576000 bps connection) (br/all-10/17/94)
