Modem Facts Modem is 14.4 Kbps DATA, FAX send/receive (v.32). Features include Class 2: V.32, V.32bis, V.42, error correction: V.42bis. Includes data compression ability for theoretical transmission speed of 57,600 bps! Data Pre-installed modem transfers data at 14.4 Kbps (Kilobytes per second) for ultra high- speed connection to nationwide on-line services, local bulletin board systems, and more. Fax Send and Receive FAX's with the popular pre- installed software communications application, Delrina WinFax Lite. Utilizing AST Works communications features, incoming FAX's and may also be forwarded to another number. FAX send/receive rate is 14.4Kbps. Voice/Telephony In conjunction with the communications software included with AST Works, the modem provides all of the functionality of a corporate voice mail system to a home or small business. Personalized greetings answer the phone and then route calls to as many as 99 separate voice mailboxes. As an example, a caller may dial "1" for Mike's message or "2" for Mary's, etc. Having pressed "1", the caller may then press any other range of numbers to reach additional mailboxes. Calls may also be forwarded to another telephone number. The modem supports multiple users by allowing each member of a family or business to have their own individual mailbox. Caller ID, or the ability to view the number and name of the person calling by automatically referencing the name in the address book prior to answering the phone, is also supported by the modem. Incoming and outgoing calls may be automatically logged into the contact manager, and different greetings may be assigned to expected calls. This new technology is not yet supported in all states, please check your local area for availability. OTHER FEATURES Remote Accesss The Address Book and Calendar may be accessed remotely. Utilizing text-to-speech conversion, the computer actually reads the requested information to the caller ... a virtual 24-hour secretary! Toll Saver When calling in for remote messages, the phone rings in a specific manner if there are messages to be played back. If there are no messages, the caller may then disconnect before the phone is answered, saving long distance phone charges. Distinctive Phone Ring Each system user can have their own specific phone ring to inform then that they have a call ... a great feature for families. Handset Record/Playback Record and playback personal greetings or messages utilizing the telephone handset. Call Hold/Transfer A must for any business system. Place incoming calls on hold and forward them to other numbers. Alphanumeric Paging Call-in messages may be forwarded to a user's pager if the pager has alphanumeric receive capabilities.
