FaxModem/V.42bis (250-3028) Features Faxback Doc. # 3287 This faxmodem is a Hayes and CCITT V.22bis/V.22 compatible auto-dial/auto- answer modem that provides all the fallback and operation requirements for asynchronous data communication at 2400, 1200, and 300 bps, and supports all the current Hayes commands for asynchronous operation, including all S Registers, AT Commands, and Dial Commands. It also supports the V.27ter and V.29ter fax protocols for sending and receiving fax at 9600, 7200, 4800, and 2400 bps, and can automatically sense and adjust to the speed of a slower fax machine. Settings and phone numbers can be saved to the faxmodems non-volatile memory. The faxmodem is also fully compliant with the international V.42bis standard for data compression and error-correction, which encompasses V.42 automatic error-correction and MNP levels 1 through 5. Each connection to another modem is automatically negotiated to ensure that the highest compatible level for data compression and error-correction is used. Special features of the faxmodem include superior call progress tone detection, a high-power micro speaker and amplifier with software volume control for better call monitoring, adaptive equalization, and MOV varistor lightning protection. The faxmodem includes the full complement of 8 status lights PLUS configurable status codes that appear on your computer monitor or terminal screen. Your faxmodem has the following features: - 2400/1200/300 bps Hayes compatible modem - 9600/7200/4800/2400 Group III Class 2 facsimile with hardware-based T.30 for superior background operation - Compatible with Hayes AT Commands and extended AT Commands, S Registers, and Dial Commands plus Extended AT Fax Command Set - Fully compliant with CCITT V.42bis and V.42 protocols - Supports MNP 1 through 5 and MNP Command Set - Supports the following data protocols: - CCITT V.22 bis (2400 bps international standard) - Bell 212A (1200 bps U.S. standard) - CCITT V.22 (1200 bps standard used in most countries outside the U.S.) - Bell 103J (300 bps U.S. standard) - CCITT V.27ter (4800/2400 bps fax standard) - CCITT V.29 (9600/7200 bps fax standard) - CCITT V.21 (300 bps fax standard) - Adaptive Equalization - Hardware Flow Control (CTS/RTS) - Software Flow Control (XON, XOFF) - Speed Buffering (accepts commands at up to 9600 bps) - Synchronous/Asynchronous Operation (can operate asynchronous to computer and synchronous to another V.42bis modem) - Programmable Inactivity Timer (hangs up if no data has been transferred for a specified amount of time) - Adaptive Dialing (detects whether user has touchtone service and switches to pulse if necessary) - Fast Pulse Dial Capability (10 OR 20 pulses per second versus Hayes 10 pps) - Redial of Last Dial String - Enable/Disable Auto-Retrain Mode - Enable/Disable 1300 Hz Calling Tone - Reporting of Cause for Connection Failure - Reporting of Telephone Line Signal Quality/Carrier Level - Adaptive Equalization - Automatic Speed Selection/Fallback to Slower Speed - Full and Half Duplex Operation - Auto-Originate and Auto-Answer Modes - Non-volatile Memory - Forced Originate and Answer Modes - Auto Reverse Mode - 40 Character Command Buffer (for chaining commands) - Automatic Diagnostics - Power-up Self Test - Local and Remote Analog Loopback - Local and Remote Digital Loopback - Dialing Capabilities - Autodial in Tone, Pulse, or Combination Tone/Pulse - Reverse Mode Dialing - Dials Up to 32 Digits - Call Progress Tone Detection - Manual Dial Override - Programmable Number of Rings Before Answer/Hangup (br/all-11/3/94)
