FaxModem/V.42bis (250-3028) Result Codes Faxback Doc. # 3294 There's a good chance that you will never encounter result codes, since your communication software most likely intercepts them. Result codes are the verifications that commands have been executed. Result codes may be selected as English words or numeric digits, or they may be disabled entirely (see SET COMMANDS). For screen display purposes, word result codes are followed by a carriage return/linefeed sequence; numeric result codes are followed by a carriage return only. The table following lists the result codes for data communications: MODEM RESULT CODE TABLE DIGIT WORD CODE MEANING OF CODE CODE 0 OK Command line executed without errors 1 CONNECT Connection established, communicate COMPUTER TO MODEM at 300 bps 2 RING Local ringing signal detected 3 NO CARRIER Carrier lost or never detected 4 ERROR Error in the command line 5 CONNECT 1200 Connection established, communicate COMPUTER TO MODEM at 1200 bps 6 NO DIALTONE No dial tone detected 7 BUSY Busy signal Detected 8 NO ANSWER @ Dial Modifier was issued, appropriate length silence was detected 9 CONNECT 0600 Connection established, communicate COMPUTER TO MODEM at 600 bps 10 CONNECT 2400 Connection established, communicate COMPUTER TO MODEM at 2400 bps 11 CONNECT 4800 Connection established, communicate COMPUTER TO MODEM at 4800 bps 12 CONNECT 9600 Connection established, communicate COMPUTER TO MODEM at 9600 bps 22 CONNECT 1200/75 Connection established, communicate COMPUTER TO MODEM at 1200 bps, modem BACK to computer at 75 bps 23 CONNECT 75/1200 Connection established, communicate COMPUTER TO MODEM at 75 bps, modem BACK to computer at 1200 bps 40 CARRIER 300 Modem to modem connection at 300 bps 44 CARRIER 1200/75 Local to remote modem connection at 1200 bps, remote to local at 75 bps 45 CARRIER 75/1200 Local to remote modem connection at 75 bps, remote to local at 1200 bps 46 CARRIER 1200 Modem to modem connection at 1200 47 CARRIER 2400 Modem to modem connection at 2400 66 COMPRESSION: CLASS 5 MNP 5 data compression 67 COMPRESSION V.42bis V.42bis data compression 69 COMPRESSION: NONE No data compression 70 PROTOCOL: NONE No error correction 77 PROTOCOL: LAP-M V.42 error correction 80 PROTOCOL: ALT MNP error correction Fax Result Codes Unlike the modem result codes shown earlier, the fax result codes shown below will not appear on your monitor screen. They are intercepted by your fax software which then takes the appropriate action. The codes are shown for the purpose of helping you understand the behind- the-scenes operation of your faxmodem. For those interested in software development for the faxmodem, a complete listing and detailed description of the result codes, AT commands, and other control parameters is available from the Telecommunication Industry Association. The document is titled "Electronics Industries Association and Telecommunications Industry Association TIA project Number 2388, Asynchronous Facsimile DCE Control Standard, Service Class 2, TR-29.2 Committee Letter Ballot".
