Combi-Mouse (250-2001) Installation Faxback Doc. # 3310 Follow these steps to install the mouse. 1. Turn off the computer and all peripherals. NOTE: Make sure you turn off the computer and all peripherals any time you need to plug or unplug the mouse. This will insure that you do not cause damage to the mouse port. This is also true of unplugging any peripheral device or internal board and cables. 2. To locate the computers mouse port, refer to the computer's users guide. If you are using the computer's serial port, remove the serial to PS/2 adapter from the mouse cable. Gently press the mouse cable connector into the port. 3. Turn on the computer and install the mouse drivers following the instructions below. Running the Mouse Drivers under MS-DOS If necessary, copy the two mouse drivers from the MS-DOS diskette to the working disk or hard disk. The drivers are: MOUSE.COM and MOUSE.SYS MOUSE.COM is the standard driver. To load it, it must be in your current directory or in a directory in your systems PATH. Simply type: MOUSE You can include this in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. MOUSE.SYS is the alternate device driver. It conforms to the DOS standard for installation device drivers. To use MOUSE.SYS, add the following line to your computers CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE=C:\DIR\MOUSE.SYS DIR is the directory where you copied MOUSE.SYS. NOTE: You must reset your computer after you edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS files. The AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files are located in the root directory, (C:\), of your Hard Drive, or on your Bootable MS-DOS diskette, (A:\). For more information about CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT and PATH, refer to your DOS reference manual. With some versions of MS-DOS, you can adjust your mouse's sensitivity and set other mouse options. Refer to your DOS reference guide for specific information on the mouse driver included with your system.
