JP 1000 (260-2960) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 3315 How to Load a Printer Driver A software utility diskette is supplied with your printer. It contains the driver for Windows 3.1 environment and drivers for software applications which run under MS-DOS. The contents of the diskette guarantee compatibility with the specific operating environments and provide a user-friendly interface for programming the printer. Windows 3.1 Environment To load the printer driver in Windows 3.1 environment, proceed as follows: Insert the diskette in your PC drive and activate Windows environment (if necessary, consult your Windows user manual). In PROGRAM MANAGER, active MAIN menu and then CONTROL PANEL, clicking twice with your mouse indicator on the corresponding icons. From CONTROL PANEL menu, activate PRINTERS, in the same way. In the PRINTERS window, click once on ADD. Check that the item INSTALL UNLISTED OR UPDATE PRINTER in the LIST OF PRINTERS: box is selected (indicated in reverse). If it is not, click on it once and then click once on INSTALL... . The INSTALL DRIVER dialogue box appears; check that the drive indicated (usually A) corresponds to that in which you have inserted your diskette. If it does not, click once on the drive name and change it, using your PC keyboard. The ADD UNLISTED OR UPDATE PRINTER dialogue box is displayed. It lists the driver(s) you can install. If not already selected, select the driver you want to install and click once on OK. Once the installation is finished, the PRINTERS window will be redisplayed. Click on CONNECT... . Click on OK. If your printer is connected to the parallel port LPT1 on your PC with a Centronics parallel interface cable, the installation procedure is completed. With your printer name highlighted in the INSTALLED PRINTER: box, click once on SET AS DEFAULT PRINTER to select your printer as the default printer. Click once on CLOSE to close the PRINTERS menu and run a print test from any Windows environment to check that the printer driver is installed correctly. NOTE: Always consult the documentation file (README.*) contained in your driver diskette for complete instructions on how to install the driver. DOS Environment For information on how to load a DOS printer driver, read the application note contained in the diskette for the printer driver you require and refer also to your DOS software application manual. Assistance If you have any problems or require assistance, contact your dealer. Keep the driver diskette with your printer documentation, for re-use, if necessary. (ALL-11/17/94)
