JP 1000 (260-2960) Windows 3.1 Driver Faxback Doc. # 3321 MODIFYING THE PARAMETERS IN THE WINDOWS 3.1 DRIVER Open Windows. In PROGRAM MANAGER, activate the MAIN menu and then CONTROL PANEL, clicking twice with your mouse indicator on the corresponding icons. From CONTROL PANEL menu, activate the PRINTERS dialogue box, in the same way. To alter the default parameters, click once on SETUP; the following parameters are proposed and can be altered, if necessary: - Resolution selection of graphic densities - Paper size A4, US letter, etc. - Paper source ASF, manual - Memory from none to various optional values - Paper Orientation Portrait or Landscape - Cartridges various optional memory cards If you click on OPTIONS... in the SETUP dialogue box, a further series of parameters is displayed: - Paper Quality plain paper, film, etc. - Print Quality LQ or Draft - Dithering defines the way colors are mixed - Intensity Control increases/decreases the darkness of the graphics N.B. The items "Dithering" and "Intensity Control" in the OPTIONS dialogue box are effective only when you print files which have been created in color in black and white. To close the dialogue boxes, click once on OK in the corresponding dialogue box, if you have changed any value(s) and wish to confirm it/them or on CANCEL to exit without saving any changes. If your printer is connected to the serial port on your PC with a serial interface cable (option), click on the CONNECT in the PRINTERS dialogue box. - Choose the port you intend to use from the Ports: box (usually COM1). - Click once on SETTINGS... to check that the transmission parameters are correct for the type of serial transmission you intend to use (if necessary, alter them). - Click once on OK to close each dialogue box you open. Click once on CLOSE to close the PRINTERS dialogue box. NOTE: You cannot print the printer's resident landscape fonts (Courier and Letter Gothic) in Windows landscape environment. To print in landscape, you must use the Windows screen fonts (Truetype, bitmap) or programs such as FaceLift (Bitstream). (ALL-11/17/94)
