The EC-4044 uses a lithium manganese battery for about 1500 hours of
operation.  Replace the old battery with Radio Shack Catalog Number 23-
162.

Knowing When to    As a battery runs down, the display begins to dim.
Replace the        When you find it difficult to read the display under

                   may be only about one week.

Effects of         The calculator cannot hold data in its memory when the

Replacing the      To replace the battery, follow these steps:

                   1. Turn the calculator off and turn it over so that the
                      back is facing you.

                   2. Placing your thumb on the battery cover, press and
                      slide until the cover slides off the back of the
                      calculator.

                   3. Remove the discharged battery and install a new one
                      as shown.  Be sure that the + symbol is facing up
                      (toward the back of the calculator).

                   4. Lay the battery cover flat inside the battery
                      compartment, and slide and snap the cover back into
                      place.

                   The display shows Mem cleared, and the calculator is
                   ready to be used.

                   Caution: Dispose of an old battery properly.  Do not
                   incinerate a battery or leave it where a child can find
                   it.
