USING HEADPHONES Sometimes headphones can capture the subtle difference between signals and the surrounding noise that often occurs at night. Be sure that the headphones have 1/8 inch plug. Insert the plug into the PHONES jack on the left of the receiver. When you plug in the headphones, the speaker is silenced. You will find a wide selection of headphones to choose from at your local Radio Shack store. CAUTION: Always set the volume to minimum before plugging in the headphones to prevent damage to the headphones and to protect your ears from excessive volume levels. Slowly adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level. Hearing Comfort and Your Health Do not listen at extremely high volume levels, especially when using headphones. Extended, high-volume listening can lead to permanent hearing loss. Traffic Safety Do not wear headphones while operating a motor vehicle or riding a bicycle. This can create a traffic hazard. Even though some headphones are designed to let you hear some outside sounds when listening at normal volume levels, they still present a traffic hazard. (ALL-12/12/94)
