Color Kit (260-2963) Colour Print Test Faxback Doc. # 3634 JP 1000 The print test enables you to make sure that the print head is working properly by checking the efficiency of the nozzles and their electrical contacts. For a description of the procedure for running the print test, see the printer user guide. The test printout contains: A nozzle testing scale consisting of three coloured sections (yellow, magenta and cyan) with all the nozzles numbered (from 1 to 51) A rectangle for testing the electrical contacts Three bands each consisting of three full-colour lines to test the nozzles in a uniform way A repetition of the scale in which any gap corresponds to a defective nozzle A repetition of the rectangle, which is cyan if all the contacts are correct and magenta if a least one contact is missing The print test also indicates problems caused by the print head, e.g. missing lines. Should these occur, adjust the print head as follows: Press the INSTALL CARTRIDGE key: the print head will move to the center of machine. Remove the print head from the carriage] Clean the print head contacts and the printer contacts using the brush supplied in the case. WARNING: If there is ink on the contacts, do not use the brush otherwise you could dirty it permanently; use absorbent paper or similar material. DO NOT TOUCH THE NOZZLES WITH THE BRUSH OR ANYTHING ELSE! Reassemble the print head and pres the INSTALL CARTRIDGE key: the print head will return to its rest position after a long purging cycle. Run a print test to check that the adjustment has been successful Should the print head not work properly again you may follow the procedure described below, as a last resort before replacing it and under the condition that you DO NOT CARRY IT OUT SYSTEMATICALLY as it could cause damage to the print head: Soak a paper handkerchief in water and wring it slightly Remove the print head from the carriage Press the handkerchief against the print head with the nozzles pointing downwards Repeat this operation several times using different parts of the handkerchief until the nozzles are perfectly clean Reassemble the print head Run a print test If this does not prove successful either, replace the print head.
