Economy/LQ - lit, indicates that the printer is in ECONOMY mode - off, indicates that the printer is in Letter Quality (LQ) mode. At printer switch-on, after the correct execution of the mechanical reset, the Power On and On Line LEDs will be lit. If all the LEDs are flashing simultaneously, an operator error has occurred. If all the LEDs flash in sequence, the battery is under recharge. Keys The key functions depend on the printer operating status. When it is switched on, the printer will be in one of the following conditions: Operating states ON LINE, with On Line LED lit. The printer is ready to receive data or data is being processed and printed. OFF LINE, with On Line LED off. State imposed by the operator, who has pressed the On Line key while the printer is operating. Any printing operating is suspended; operator intervention is required to return the printer ON LINE (using the On Line key). WARNING: with Power On LED flashing slowly : state caused by low battery. with Power On LED flashing rapidly : state caused by dead battery. with On Line LED flashing slowly : state caused by lack of paper. In ON LINE status (On Line LED lit): Form Feed - If there is no paper in the printer, commands the insertion of a sheet of paper to the Top of Form (TOF) position. - If paper is already present in the printer, causes its expulsion. - If there is data pending in the print buffer, causes its immediate printing, and the expulsion of the printed sheet. - If pressed together with On Line when the battery recharging feature is activated, causes the recharge operation to be terminated and the printer returns ON LINE. Economy/LQ - If pressed for less than three seconds: toggles the Economy/LQ print modes. The change of print quality will be effective only after a subsequent FORM FEED command. - If pressed for more than three seconds: moves the print head carriage to the head replacement position at the center of the carriage shaft. On Line - If pressed for less than three seconds; sets the printer in OFF LINE status and moves the print head carriage to its rest position at the physical left margin. The On Line LED goes off and any printing operation is suspended. - If pressed for more than three seconds; enables the battery recharging feature; the LEDs start flashing in sequence, left to right. - If pressed together with Form Feed when the battery recharging feature is activated, causes the recharge operation to be terminated and the printer returns ON LINE. In OFF LINE status (On Line LED off): Form Feed - As in ON LINE status. Economy/LQ - As in ON LINE status. On Line - If pressed for less than three seconds: Sets the printer in On Line status. The On Line LED lights and any suspended printing operation will resume. - If pressed and held: - Allows the removal of a jammed page, which should be pulled carefully back into the paper input tray.
