DMP-137 (260-2887) Adjusting Headgap Faxback Doc. # 4016 Adjusting the Printer Head Gap: The size of the gap between the print head and the paper determines the printing pressure. This affects the darkness and quality of the type. The print-head gap also determines how smoothly the paper feeds. Set the print-head gap correctly for the type of paper you are using, as shown below. CAUTION: If you do not correctly set the gap between the print head and paper, you might damage the print head. Standard, 20-pound paper: Position 3 (A mark shows this is the standard setting) Most 2-Part Copies: Position 5 or 6 When you begin using a different thickness of paper, run a self test and adjust the print-head gap until the print quality is good and the paper feeds normally. Notes: * If the print smudges, the paper jams, or feeds abnormally, or the ribbon loosens or comes off the print head during printing, select a higher gap setting. * If the print is too light or characters or parts of characters are missing, select a lower gap setting. Print-Head Protection: If the print head becomes too hot, printing automatically stops. When the print head cools, printing automatically resumes. (dtc-08/06/93)
