Installing/Replacing the ribbon cassettes:

Black Ribbon Cassette (26-2824)
Color Ribbon Cassette (26-2826)

Follow these steps to install the ribbon cassettes:

1. Be sure the POWER switch is set to OFF. Then, open and lift the top 
   cover.

2. Slide the print head to the middle of the platen.

WARNING: The print head becomes hot when you print for extended periods. Be
sure you let the print head cool before you touch it.

3. Remove the old ribbon cassette by gently pulling it up and out of the
   chassis.

4. Unwrap the new ribbon cassette and remove any slack from the ribbon by
   turning the ribbon feed knob in the direction of the arrow.

5. Hold the new ribbon cassette with the ribbon feed knob facing up. Then,
   align the ribbon cassette's guide pins with the guide slots in the 
   printer.

6. Press down the ribbon cassette in the printer's guide slots until it 
   locks into place. Then, thread the ribbon between the ribbon mask 
   (thin steel plate) and the print head.

NOTE: Be careful not to get the ribbon between the ribbon mask and the 
paper guide (black plate).

7. Turn the ribbon feed knob in the direction of the arrow to take up the
   slack in the ribbon.

8. Slide the print head to the right and left a few times to be sure it 
   moves smoothly without snagging the ribbon.

10. Replace the top cover.

CAUTION: Printing without paper or a ribbon cassette can damage the print 
head and platen.

Adjusting the Optional Color Ribbon Position:

When you select color printing, the printer uses one of more bands on the
color ribbon. If the color you choose does not mix correctly, or if a thin
band of another color appears above or below the printed line, set the 
color motor's adjustment lever to a different position and try printing 
again.
