DMP-136 (260-2868) Adjusting Headgap Faxback Doc. # 4032 You can change the printing pressure for printing on multiple-part copies, various paper thicknesses, and envelopes. To change the setting, do the following: 1. Open and remove the top cover to expose the print head lever. 2. Move the print head lever toward the front of the printer for less pres- sure or toward the back of the printer for greater pressure. We suggest you perform a test printing to be sure you are using the proper setting. PRINT HEAD NUMBER OF COPIES 0 1 +1 2 +2 3,4, envelopes, labels +3 Envelopes NOTES: * You can use the printer's -1 and -2 settings when the characters appear faded (worn ribbon); use the printer's +4 setting when you are printing on extremely thick paper. * If smudging occurs, set the print head lever to a higher number by moving the lever toward you. It is important to adjust the printing pressure according to the type of paper and the number of copies you are printing. Damage to the paper, inaccurate line feeding, or loosening of the ribbon can occur if the print head setting is too low. If the print head setting is too high, the print head can be damaged and faded or missing characters occur on the printout. (dtc-08/06/93)
