The printer has a built-in self test feature to check the print quality and
general printer operation.

Before running the self test, be sure to load the printer with 8 1/2" by 11"
paper since the test prints from one end of the platen to the other.

CAUTION: Printing on the platen can shorten the life of the platen and the
print head.

To run the self test:

Press and hold [LINE/FORM], and turn on the printer.

The printer prints the ASCII 95 characters in various fonts programmed into
the printer.

To stop the self test, press [ON/OFF LINE].

The self test printout also provides information about your printer. Have 
this information handy if you call for service.
