Performing a Self Test:

The printer is equipped with a self-test function to check for correct
operation. We recommend that you run this test to check the printer 
operation before starting normal printing.

Load paper that is 15 inches wide. While pressing [FF/LOAD], turn on the
printer. The message SELF TEST appears on the control panel and the test
pattern prints.

The test pattern continues to print until you turn off the printer.
