Installing/Replacing the Ribbon Cassette:

Black Ribbon Cassette (26-2846)

Follow these steps to install the ribbon cassette.

CAUTION:
 * Printing without paper or ribbon can damage the print head or the 
   platen.
 * Be sure to set POWER to OFF and unplug the printer before you replace 
   the ribbon cassette.

1. Turn off the power switch and open the printer cover.

2. Tilt back the lock levers at both ends of the pinch roller. Then, pull 
   the pinch roller forward.

3. Note the current position of the print head positioning lever. Then, set
   the print head positioning lever to position 7.

4. Remove the ribbon guide from the ribbon guide shaft by pulling the two
   clear plastic tabs outward. Remove the three pegs from the hooks on the
   printer body. Then, remove the ribbon cassette.

5. Rotate the ribbon winding knob of the new cassette in the direction
   indicated by the arrow to take up any ribbon slack.

6. Firmly press the left and right ribbon guide holes onto the ribbon guide
   shafts until the ribbon guide snaps into place.

7. Gently press the ribbon cassette into position until the three pegs on 
   the ribbon cassette snap securely into the hooks on the printer body.

8. Rotate the ribbon winding knob in the direction of the arrow to take up
   slack in the ribbon.

9. Return the pinch roller its original position. Pull both lock levers
   forward.

10. Move the carriage to the left and right by hand to confirm that the
    carriage moves properly.

11. Return the print head positioning lever to its original position.
