Follow these steps to install the ribbon cassettes:

1. Be sure the POWER switch is set to OFF. Then lift the back edge of the
   top cover and tilt it toward you. Open the front half of the top cover 
   by lifting it toward you. Then lift the top cover straight up to remove
   it.

2. Slide the print head to the middle of the platen.

3. Unwrap the ribbon cassette. Tighten the ribbon by turning the ribbon 
   feed knob in the direction of the arrow.

4. Hold the ribbon cassette with the ribbon feed knob facing up. Position
   the cassette's left end so the ribbon feed spindle slides into the hole
   underneath the ribbon knob.

5. Lower the cassette onto the ribbon plate and push it down until it snaps
   into place.

6. Thread the ribbon between the ribbon mask and the print head. Do not
   insert the ribbon between the ribbon mask and the paper guide.

7. Turn the ribbon feed knob in the direction of the arrow to take up any
   slack in the ribbon.

8. Replace the top cover by inserting the two tabs into the notches on top
   of the printer and gently lowering the front half and then the back half
   of the top cover.

Note: To remove an old ribbon cassette, pull it up gently.
