DMP-204 (260-2883) Print Head Faxback Doc. # 4252 Adjusting the Print-Head Gap: The size of the gap between the print head and the paper determines the printing pressure, which affects the darkness and quality of the type. The print-head gap also determines how smoothly the paper feeds. Move the head position lever to correctly set the print-head gap for the type of paper you are using. Standard, 20-lb.: Position 3 (This is the standard setting.) Most 2-part Copies: Position 5 or 6 CAUTION: If you do not correctly set the gap between the print head and the paper, you may damage the print head. When you use a different thickness of paper, run a self test and adjust the print head gap until the print quality is good and the paper feeds normally. Notes: * If the print smudges, the paper jams or feeds abnormally, or the ribbon loosens or comes off the print head during printing, select a higher setting. * If the print is too light or characters or parts of characters are missing, select a lower setting.
