LP 950 (260-2838) Cartridge Replacement Faxback Doc. # 4383 The POC, developer, and toner cartridges require periodic replacement. To obtain new cartridges, contact your Radio Shack Store. Replacing the Toner Cartridge Kit (260-2841): CAUTION: There is a fuse installed on the POC Toner Unit. This fuse is used by the printer logic to determine that a new unit has been installed. After the new unit is installed, the fuse will be purposely blown after about 1 second. Do not replace the fuse as a new fuse is installed on every new Toner Kit. Replace the toner cartridge when REPL. TONER KIT appears on the display. To maintain optimal print quality, replace the toner kit as soon as soon as possible. The toner cartridge should last for approximately 3000 pages. The actual life of the cartridge varies depending on the number of graphics and large fonts your documents contain. A new roller cleaner and toner-collecting container are supplied with each toner cartridge kit. Replace them before installing the new toner cartridge. If you do not replace the toner-collecting container, the REPL. TONER KIT message will continue to appear even after you replace the toner cartridge. CAUTION: Failure to replace these components can damage the LP 950. 1. Press the button on the printer's top cover to open the printer. 2. Remove the used roller cleaner from the fusing unit. CAUTION: * The black fusing unit is hot. Handle the cleaner only by the green tab. * Do not touch the POC drum. 3. Install the new roller cleaner in the fusing unit. 4. Remove the full toner-collecting container and install the need container. Carefully place the used container in the new container's plastic shipp- ing bag. Seal the bag and properly dispose of the used container. Be careful not to spill used toner into the LP 950. 5. Lift the green locking tab on the developer cartridge and carefully pull the old toner cartridge toward you to remove it from the developer cartridge. 6. Shake the new cartridge horizontally four or five times to loosen the toner. 7. Align the new toner cartridge's hooks with the slots in the developer cartridge. Push in the toner cartridge and secure it with the green tab. 8. Firmly hold the toner cartridge and remove the sealing tape from the slot on the right side of the cartridge. Tap the cartridge several times to release the toner. 9. Close the printer. Replacing the Developer Cartridge (260-2843): REPL. DEVELOPER appears on the display a few thousand copies before you must replace the developer cartridge. After this message appears, replace the developer cartridge the next time you replace the toner cartridge. It is not possible to replace the developer cartridge separately. The developer cartridge should last for approximately 25,000 pages. 1. Press the button on the printer's top cover to open the printer. 2. Hold both green levers on the developer cartridge and remove the toner and developer cartridges together. 3. Place the empty toner and developer cartridges in the new cartridge's shipping bag. Seal the bag and properly dispose of the old materials. 4. Shake the new developer cartridge horizontally several times. 5. Hold the developer cartridge firmly on a level surface and remove the covering material. Do not touch the developer roller. Do not remove the sealing plate on the other side of the developer cartridge. 6. Hold the developer cartridge by the green handles and slide it along the guides into the printer until it stops. 7. Remove the tape that secures the sealing plate. Then, pull out the sealing plate. 8. To replace the toner cartridge now, follow the previous procedure, "Replacing the Toner Cartridge". 9.
