LP 950 (260-2838) Cleaning the Printer Faxback Doc. # 4384 Because of the laser technology used in the LP 950, there are few components that need cleaning. Normal cleaning is limited to care of the exterior cabinet and cleaning of the corona wires. Cleaning the Cabinet: If the LP 950 cabinet is dirty or stained, wipe it with a soft, clean cloth. If necessary, dampen the cloth with water. Do not use thinner, benzene, or other volatile cleaning agents. Cleaning the Corona Wires: If the printouts are blotchy or streaky, clean the corona wires as follows: 1. Turn off the power. 2. Press the printer's top cover button to open the printer. 3. Press the notch in the corona cleaner against the charger housing as shown. Slide the cleaner along the corona wire case to clean the wires. Cleaning the Main Charger: Clean the main charger after cleaning the corona wires. 1. Carefully remove the toner and developer cartridges together. 2. Carefully remove the OPC cartridge and place it on a clean, level surface. Do not touch the OPC drum or expose it to bright light. 3. Press the notch in the corona cleaner against the main charger housing. Slide the cleaner along the housing to clean the main charger. 4. Reinstall the OPC cartridge, toner, and developer cartridges. 5. Close the printer. (css 07/27/93)
