DMP 200 (260-1254) Selftest Faxback Doc. # 4435 The DMP-200 has a "built-in" self-test feature which lets you check the printing quality and general printer operation before you connect the Prin- ter to a computer. This is a good time to check that the Print Head is ad- justed properly (printing is neither too faint or smudging occurs) and if the paper is feeding properly. Printing character font styles will be selected in accordance with Char- acter Selection Switch setting. Before running the Self-Test, always be sure to load the DMP-200 with 10" wide paper since the Test prints from one end of the Platen to the other. Printing on the Platen can shorten the life of the Platen and the Print Head. To run the Self-Test: 1. Plug the printer into an AC power outlet. 2. Set the ON-LINE/OFF-LINE Switch to OFF-LINE. 3. Press and hold the RESTART Switch. 4. Set the Power ON/OFF Switch to ON. The printer will begin the selftest of printable characters. 5. If the printing is too light, gently move the Penetration Control Lever towards the paper. If printing is too dark or begins smudging, move the Penetration Control Lever away from the paper slightly. 6. Printing will continue until you turn the power OFF. (abo-07/26/93)
