DMP 107 (260-2821) Selftest Faxback Doc. # 4509 The printer has a built-in self test feature to check the print quality and general printer operation before you begin using it. Before running the self test, be sure to load the printer with 10" wide paper since the test prints from one end of the platen to the other. CAUTION: Printing of the platen can shorten the life of the platen and the print head. To run the self test: 1. Press and hold the ON/OFF LINE switch. 2. Turn on the printer. When the printer finishes initializing, release the ON/OFF LINE switch. The printer prints the ASCII 96 characters pre-programmed into the printer. The self test is performed alternately in standard font for five lines and correspondence quality font for five lines in a continuous pattern. Printing continues until you press the ON/OFF LINE switch, you turn the printer off, or the paper end is detected. NOTE: To stop printing at any time, press the ON/OFF LINE switch to set the printer to off line. To print the remaining data in the buffer, after you have stopped printing process using your computer software. Then, press the ON/OFF LINE switch to set the printer to on line. NOTE TO MODEL II USERS: When a BASIC program stops execution because of a printer error, type CONT [ENTER] to resume printing. The entire contents of the print buffer prints starting with the current print head position. (dtc-07/26/93)
