DMP-134 (260-2848) Features Faxback Doc. # 4526 The Tandy Dot-Matrix Printer DMP-134 is a high-density, dot-matrix printer that performs a variety of printing operations: * Proportionally spaced characters * Monospaced characters (standard, condensed, and compressed) * Correspondence-quality characters * Superscript/subscript * Graphics The printer uses a control code set that is compatible with the IBM Proprinter II. Control codes are used to program the printer to print special enhancements (italic, bold, etc.) set character type, or adjust line feed and spacing. Just select the IBM Proprinter II printer driver on your application software, and the program does the rest! You can select either of two character sets. A character set is a set of print character types, including letters, and special characters that you can print on the DMP-134. You can use two types of paper with the printer: * Tractor-fed, 4.5" to 10" computer fanfold forms with guide holes * Friction-fed, single sheet typewriter paper Other features include: * Underline capability * Paper out alarm function * Automatic paper loading * Character pitch set function * Margin set function * Lightweight - weighs only 7.3 pounds BASIC CONTROLS POWER INDICATOR -- Lights when the printer is properly connected and the POWER ON/OFF switch is set to ON. PAPER OUT INDICATOR -- Lights when the printer is out of paper. When this happens, the printer goes off-line and the alarm sounds for one second. Load more paper and press the ON/OFF-LINE button. The PAPER OUT indicator blinks when there is a carriage fault or an electrical problem. ON/OFF-LINE BUTTON -- This button sets the printer to on-line or off-line mode. To enter the pitch-set mode, press and hold this button for one second while the printer is on line. When the printer is out of paper in off-line mode, pressing this button sets the printer to on-line mode and the printer returns to off-line mode after printing one line. If there is no data in the printer buffer, the printer remains unchanged until one line of data is input to the printer. To stop the self test, press the ON/OFF-LINE button. ON/OFF-LINE INDICATOR -- Lights when the printer is on line and ready to receive data from the computer. When the indicator is off, the printer is off-line and can not receive data. When the indicator blinks, the printer is in pitch-set mode. NLQ BUTTON -- This button sets either the near-letter quality (NLQ) or standard print mode. Press this button while the printer is on-line to select the NLQ mode: the NLQ indicator lights. Press this button again for standard mode. When using fanfold paper, press this button in off-line mode to feed the fanfold paper back to the tractor position. By doing this, you can use single-sheet paper while keeping fanfold paper in the tractor position. In the pitch-set mode, the NLQ button sets the pitch or selects the margin-set mode. In the margin-set mode, this button sets the margin position. To perform the self test in NLQ mode, press the NLQ button as you turn on the printer. NLQ INDICATOR -- Lights when the printer is in the NLQ mode. FF BUTTON -- This button sets or cancels the high-speed-draft (HSD) mode in on-line mode. When you set the HSD mode, the beep sounds twice. When you cancel the HSD mode, the beep sounds once. If there is data in the print buffer, the printer prints the print buffer contents before the HSD mode is set or canceled. This button advances the paper to the next top-of-form position. It is effective only when the printer is in the off-line mode. In the pitch-set and margin-set mode, press the FF button to move the print head to the left. To enter the hex dump mode, press the button while turning on the printer. LF BUTTON -- If you want to print in the super-speed draft (SSD) mode, you must set this mode and cancel it with the LF button while the printer is on line. The SSD mode is not available via control codes. When you set the SSD mode, the beep sounds twice. When you cancel SSD mode, the beep sounds once. If there is data in the print buffer, the printer prints the print buffer contents before the SSD mode is set or canceled. This button advances the paper one line. Press and hold the LF button for continuous paper feed. It is effective only when the printer is in off- line mode. In the pitch-set and margin-set mode, press the LF button to move the print head to the right. To perform a self test in standard font, press the LF button while turning on the power. (dtc-07/26/93)
